Amanda Kessler, Grade 5-6 Homeroom Teacher at Martin Luther School Joplin MO

Amanda Kessler teaches 5th and 6th Grade Homeroom at Martin Luther School in Joplin, Missouri — bringing an energizing combination of advanced academic credentials, real-world experience, and a genuine passion for STEM education to the students ready for middle school’s bigger challenges. Amanda Kessler is a distinctive voice at MLS: analytical, enthusiastic, and deeply invested in each student’s growth.

Originally from Northern Wisconsin, Mrs. Kessler led a wonderfully nomadic life while her husband Adam served in the U.S. Army — living in Washington, Texas, Alaska, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Kentucky before the Kesslers settled in Joplin. Along the way she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and a Master’s Degree in Finance, worked as an elementary math and reading tutor, homeschooled with Saxon Math and Khan Academy, and volunteered in classroom settings, crisis hotlines, and trauma prevention programs. Her favorite work of all: mentoring middle and high school robotics teams.

Mrs. Kessler has a genuine passion for STEM education — she lights up teaching math and science and lives for the moments when something finally clicks. She and Adam have five children ranging in age from 18 to 25, and a sheep-a-doodle named Loki. In her free time she enjoys reading, knitting, quilting, and hiking with her family. She brings all of that curiosity and warmth into her 5th and 6th grade homeroom every day alongside the full MLS faculty and under the leadership of Principal Mollie Ramstad.
