NLSA accreditation Joplin — Martin Luther School is proud to welcome a team of evaluators for our 2026 National Lutheran School Accreditation visit, taking place April 28–30, 2026. This is a significant milestone for our school community and a testament to our commitment to excellence in Christ-centered education. Accreditation through National Lutheran School Accreditation is a rigorous, evidence-based process that examines every aspect of our school — from academics and student services to governance, facilities, and our Christ-centered mission. Our programs serve students from early childhood through 8th grade.

NLSA Accreditation Joplin — Meet the Visiting Team
The 2026 NLSA accreditation Joplin visit is led by Joshua Swartz, Assistant to the President for Lutheran Schools at the Missouri District of the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS). Mr. Swartz brings extensive experience in Lutheran education, having previously served as principal of St. Lorenz Lutheran School in Frankenmuth, Michigan, along with leadership roles in schools across Ohio, Indiana, and Alabama.
Joining Mr. Swartz is a team of evaluators from several states who will spend three days on campus reviewing every dimension of our school — academics, student services, governance, facilities, and our Christ-centered mission. The visiting team will observe classrooms, interview teachers and parents, review documentation, and assess how Martin Luther School meets the rigorous NLSA standards.
What Is NLSA Accreditation?
National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA) is the recognized accrediting body for schools within the Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. NLSA accreditation Joplin families can count on means that Martin Luther School has undergone a thorough self-study process and external evaluation to verify that we meet the highest standards for academic quality, spiritual formation, student safety, and continuous improvement. Accreditation is not just a stamp of approval — it is an ongoing commitment to growth and accountability.
Over the past several months, our teachers, administrators, parents, congregation members, and even students have contributed to this comprehensive review. We have gathered data on student achievement through NWEA MAP assessments, surveyed families and staff, documented our programs and policies, and identified both our strengths and areas for continued growth.
Our Strategic Plan 2025–2029 and five core values — Compassionate Leaders, Christ-Centered Servants, Innovative Thinkers, Resilient Learners, and God’s Unique Creations — provide the framework for our continuous improvement. The self-study process has reinforced what we already knew: Martin Luther School is a place where faith and learning go hand in hand, and where every child is known, loved, and challenged to reach their God-given potential.
We look forward to welcoming the NLSA visiting team this spring and sharing the story of our school with them. Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this important process. To learn more about our accreditation, visit our Accreditation page.
