We are grateful and proud to announce that Martin Luther School has been fully accredited in good standing through the National Lutheran School Accreditation (NLSA) process! After a thorough self-study and on-site validation visit, our school received outstanding results that reflect the dedication of our teachers, families, staff, and congregation.

Accreditation Results at a Glance
The NLSA visiting team evaluated Martin Luther School across every area of school life — from our Christ-centered mission and ministry to academics, student services, facilities, and leadership. Here is how MLS performed:
- 8 Areas of Strength identified across our school
- 1 Exceptional Practice — our Power Hour program
- 0 Major Deficiencies
These results confirm what our families already know: Martin Luther School provides an exceptional Christ-centered education for children in Joplin, Missouri.
Power Hour Recognized as a Powerful Practice
One of the most exciting outcomes of the accreditation review is that our Power Hour program was recognized as a “Powerful Practice” by NLSA. This special distinction is given to innovative programs that demonstrate measurable impact on student learning. As a result, NLSA has asked Martin Luther School to share our Power Hour model with other Lutheran schools across the country through a webinar and published article.
Power Hour is our daily data-driven instructional block where students are grouped by ability level for focused instruction in reading and math. Using NWEA MAP Growth data, IXL diagnostics, and teacher assessments, Power Hour allows every student to receive targeted instruction at their level — whether they need extra support or are ready for enrichment. The result is measurable academic growth for every child.
Pastor Ramstad Nominated for School Shepherd Award
In addition to the school-wide recognition, Pastor Chris Ramstad has been nominated for the NLSA School Shepherd Award. This annual award honors pastors who provide outstanding encouragement, support, and service to their school. Pastor Ramstad’s deep involvement in the life of Martin Luther School — from leading weekly chapel services to serving on the Ministry Leadership Team — made him a natural nominee. We are blessed to have a pastor who champions our school so faithfully.
