School Supply List

Here is the full school supply list Joplin families need for Martin Luther School’s 2026–2027 year, typed out grade by grade so you can pull it up on your phone in the store aisle. Every grade is listed below — no download required — and there is a printable PDF if you would rather have it on paper.

Preschool 3 and 4

• 1 box Ziploc snack bags
• 1 box Ziploc quart bags
• 1 box Ziploc gallon bags
• 3-pack of Kinetic Sand (EC3 — Mrs. Dorsey’s class)
• 3-pack of Play-Doh (EC4 — Mrs. Ideker’s class)
• 2 resealable packages baby wipes
• 2 resealable packs flushable wipes
• 1 extra change of clothes to be left at school (shirt, pants, socks, and underwear)
• 3 rolls Bounty paper towels
• 2 boxes Kleenex
• 1 container Clorox wipes
• 2 sets of individually wrapped snacks (2 dozen each, quarterly)

Preschool Afternoon — Rest Time

• Travel-size pillow
• Small blanket
• 1 small stuffed animal
• Crib sheet

Kindergarten

• Backpack (no wheels)
• 2 boxes Kleenex
• Clorox wipes
• Baby wipes (fragrance free)
• 1 multi-pack Play-Doh
• 3 rolls Bounty paper towels
• 2 sets of individually wrapped snacks (2 dozen each, quarterly)
• 1 change of clothes to keep at school

Grades 1–2

• Backpack (no wheels)

Questions Families Ask

When are supplies due?

Bring them to Meet the Teacher Day on Thursday, August 13, and drop them off in the classroom when you meet your child’s teacher. If that day does not work, send them along on the first day of school, Wednesday, August 19.

Why paper towels and wipes?

Several items on the list are shared classroom supplies rather than personal ones. Pooling them keeps costs down for everyone and keeps our classrooms clean and well stocked all year.

Do we need to buy a water bottle?

No. MLS provides a water bottle for every student. If one is lost or damaged, replacements are $7.00 through the school office.

Can my child use a rolling backpack?

No — backpacks must be without wheels. Early Childhood students do not need to buy a bag at all; tote bags are provided by the school.

What about PE shorts and everyday clothing?

Students in grades 3 through 8 need one pair of navy mesh basketball PE shorts with a 5-inch or longer inseam. For everyday clothing, see our dress code page — polos in Navy Blue, Classic Red, Gold-Yellow, Light Blue, or White, with pants in Black, Navy, or Khaki. Light Blue is newly approved for 2026–27, and this is the last school year red polos will be allowed, so keep that in mind if you are buying new.

What if buying supplies is a hardship this year?

Please call the school office at (417) 624-1403. We would much rather help quietly than have a child start the year without what they need.
