Academic Growth

Students in grades 5 and 6 benefit from our departmentalized model, moving between subject-specific teachers for deeper engagement in core subjects. Daily Math Power Hour and Reading Power Hour sessions use NWEA MAP Growth data to group students by skill level, ensuring every learner is appropriately challenged. Our curriculum covers language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, and religion, with a cyclical approach to history and government that gives students a broad and thorough understanding of the world around them.

Character and Faith Development

Fifth and sixth graders at Martin Luther School grow in spiritual maturity through daily devotions, Bible instruction, Scripture memory work, and weekly chapel services. Students at this age begin to take on greater leadership roles — serving as chapel helpers, participating in Student Council, and contributing to The Glow, our weekly school newsletter and service learning publication. The Friendzy social-emotional curriculum supports students through the social changes of pre-adolescence with lessons on empathy, resilience, and healthy relationships.

“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Romans 12:2 (ESV)
