Students will grow in their faith in Jesus by: seeing Jesus as their best friend, knowing that even though they are sinful Jesus died on the cross and rose for them; listening to and discussing Bible stories; praying and singing hymns and prayers; participating in worship during weekly chapel; and learning about forgiveness and grace.
Students will be introduced to basic literacy concepts needed for reading and writing such as: representing ideas through pretend play and music, discussing with adults and other children, following directions, listening and responding to literature, identifying some alphabet letters, repeating simple rhymes and finger plays, and experimenting with writing tools.
Students will develop basic math skills such as: counting, counting objects, identifying some numbers, identifying basic shapes, patterning, sorting, classifying, and basic measurement.
Social and Emotional
Students will develop a basic understanding of themselves and others by: showing respect, following rules, following daily routines, expressing feelings appropriately, starting to accept consequences for actions, developing friendships, using common courtesies, participating in a group, trying new experiences, making decisions, developing independence, sustaining age appropriate attention to a task, and working to solve problems.
Students will develop a basic understanding of science skills such as: showing interest in the physical world, using their senses to observe, experimenting with objects and materials to gain information, identifying physical properties of materials, having a basic knowledge of plant and animal changes, having a basic knowledge of living things, and having a basic knowledge of earth (weather).
Students will develop a basic understanding of physical development, health, and safety by: using large muscles, completing fine motor tasks, using various “tools”, obtaining sensory awareness, body awareness, and spatial awareness, being independent in personal hygiene, participating in physical activities, following directions during emergencies, following safety rules, and recognizing personal dangers.
