Kindergarten
A joyful, Christ-centered start to your child’s academic journey.
Martin Luther School offers kindergarten Joplin MO families have trusted since 1953 — including Joplin’s very first kindergarten program. Our beloved founding teacher, Miss Estella Fritz, set the standard for kindergarten excellence in the Joplin community — and that tradition continues today. Martin Luther School’s kindergarten in Joplin, MO gives your child a joyful, Christ-centered start to their academic career with a proven blend of structured learning and creative exploration.

Building Strong Foundations
Our kindergarten program is designed to build the academic, social, and spiritual foundations your child needs for success. Students develop essential literacy and math skills through engaging, hands-on instruction. We use a balanced approach that combines phonics-based reading instruction, math readiness, writing practice, science exploration, and creative arts — all woven together with daily Bible lessons and faith integration.
With small class sizes averaging 12 to 15 students, our kindergarten teacher knows every child personally and can tailor instruction to meet individual learning needs. We use NWEA MAP Growth assessments to identify each student’s strengths and growth areas from the very start, so no child falls through the cracks and every child is challenged appropriately.
“Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”
Matthew 19:14 (ESV)
A Typical Kindergarten Day
A day in kindergarten at Martin Luther School is filled with purposeful learning and joyful discovery. Students begin with Bible time and devotions, then move through literacy centers, math instruction, science and social studies, music, art, and physical education. Weekly chapel services bring the whole school together for worship, and our Friendzy social-emotional curriculum helps kindergartners build friendship skills, empathy, and resilience.
Kindergarten students also participate in school-wide events throughout the year, including the Christmas program, spring musical, field trips, and special chapel services during Advent and Lent. These shared experiences help your child feel part of the larger Martin Luther School family from day one.
